Frequently Asked Questions1. What paperwork/information is the driver required to have when receiving/delivering containers? Please see our transaction requirements. 2. Our trucking company is part of the UIIA. Do I need authorization from the steamship line when delivering containers/chassis? Yes. Each steamship line is responsible for authorizing trucking companies to deliver cargo/equipment. Each steamship line has access to this in the NYCT computer system. 3. Is NYCT AMS? Yes. We receive information from US Customs throughout the day. 4. What is a NYCT "hold"? A NYCT "hold" will prevent a container from being delivered even though it is US Customs and Freight released. A NYCT "hold" is usually applied when there are additional charges/fees associated with a container. 5. How long is free time? Free time is usually assessed at 4 workdays for dry cargo and 2 workdays for refrigerated or temperature controlled cargo. Thereafter, demurrage charges will be assessed. |
